Weekend Events

Gold Star Families from across the country are invited to a full weekend of events designed to honor their Hero's sacrifice and celebrate their lives. Through special activites for children, opportunities to visit Arlington National Cemetery, performances from headline entertainers, and more, Gold Star Families will experience their nation's respect and gratitude as best as it can be expressed.

 

Gold Star Family Dinner

July 23, 2010 Marriot Wardman Park Hotel

The National Gold Star Family Dinner will seat families together by state for an evening honoring their Heroes and allowing them to share their stories with each other. To the families gathered, they won’t be recognizing another brave Soldier, Marine, Airman, Sailor, or Guardsman, but they will be remembering a father, a wife, a daughter, a brother. Families will be able to tell their Hero’s stories and to find a comfort that can only be offered by those who have known similar loss.

 

American Heroes Festival

July 24, 2010 City Center

This Saturday event will include Gold Star families, active duty military and their families, and veterans. Invited entertainers are top artists from a variety of music and performing genres, and the event is open press. Families will enjoy a festival atmosphere that also acknowledges the service and sacrifice of our nation’s military Heroes and their families.

 

Visit to Arlington National Cemetery

July 24, 2010

On Saturday, families will have the opportunity to visit Arlington National Cemetery to pay respects to their loved ones and the thousands of other men and women who served our country.
